“Passion could make you go all the way, even to the other side of the world”

Raniah has loved fashion, elegance, and hair-styling ever since she was a child. Her talent was obvious, and she managed to use it as an opportunity to develop and do what she loves. Raniah recalls and says “My sisters in the orphanage, young and old, would wake me up before their school time for me to style their hair.” However, Raniah never got the guidance she needed. She studied Tourism and Hospitality in secondary school instead of Beauty and Fashion, she says “At that time, I couldn’t say No, I didn’t have a voice. But it’s different now, dealing with people taught me how to be heard and respected.”

“I can’t leave the house without being all dressed up with make-up on, even if I’m just hanging around in the garden. I had to be dashing.”

With evident happiness, Raniah talks about her talent and her love for make-up and colors. She taught herself through Youtube and was certain of her skills when she got accepted for a scholarship provided by Sanad in cooperation with Zed Beauty Academy. It was mainly for unmarried ladies, yet Raniah got accepted for her exceptional skills and enthusiasm. She studied and remained committed to the program for 4 months non-stop. She was able to manage her time between training and taking care of her three girls. Through practical and theoretical studies, she was able to polish her skills, and graduated to be the top of her class. . . “My teachers saw how fast I was developing, and I believed that I had a future.”

“Everyone has their own willpower to guide them through.”

Raniah works independently, and Sanad supported her through another grant for buying the necessary equipment and material for her own shop. She promotes her work through word of mouth, from her clients, her sisters, and her neighbors. She is looking forward to becoming a professional so that she can market for herself through social media after opening her own beauty, Salon. For the future, Raniah wishes to join Mobader (The Initiator); a community leadership program provided by Sanad. She considers it a great opportunity to meet new people, and to learn more about her cause and develop her leadership and communication skills. She says “In the past, one wouldn’t dare to say that they were raised in an orphanage, but now the world has changed.” She is looking forward to learning more and to developing her skills in different areas, to achieve her goals and also to pass on her knowledge to her three beautiful girls.
