A Celebration of Achievement and a New Beginning Toward a More Sustainable Future for Care Leavers
October 2025
As part of Sanad for Alternative Parental Care’s commitment to strengthening the aftercare system in Egypt, this day marked the culmination of years of innovation and hard work — announcing a series of strategic achievements that have enhanced care systems, empowered care leavers socially and economically, and opened new pathways toward independence and sustainability.
Today was not merely a celebration — it was a new beginning toward a more sustainable future for care leavers, in partnership with everyone who believes in their potential for success and self-reliance.
The event crowned years of continuous effort within Sanad’s Aftercare Program, which has achieved tangible impact in transforming Egypt’s care ecosystem and supporting care leavers to build safer, more stable futures.
Key achievements of the program include:
Developing care systems in more than 14 care homes and producing an operational manual for aftercare, the first of its kind in Egypt.
Building the capacity of 289 care providers, directly and indirectly improving the lives of over 4,000 children and young people in care.
Training more than 670 children and adolescents in independent living skills to support their transition toward autonomy.
Empowering 475 care leavers socially and economically through partnerships with the private sector and civil society.
Launching a service map featuring over 200 accessible services for youth in Cairo, covering employment, education, housing, and psychosocial support.
Introducing “Boussoltak,” an AI-powered platform that offers care leavers access to more than 200 services 24/7, with plans to expand nationwide.
Supporting 7 youth-led initiatives designed and managed by care leavers to serve their peers and inspire community innovation.
Amplifying the voices of care leavers in policymaking and involving them in drafting the Alternative Care Bill, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
Formally integrating the term “Aftercare” into Egypt’s public discourse and legislation, as recently featured in the Social Insurance Law (April 2025).
Integrating care leavers into private sector and international programs, linking their participation with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Reframing the portrayal of care leavers in Egyptian media and drama through a new, human-centered lens that emphasizes capability, dignity, and hope.
These achievements embody the shared belief that sustainability begins with empowering people, and that investing in care leavers is investing in the future of our society.
Sanad extends its heartfelt gratitude to all partners who shared this vision and helped turn it into reality.
